Jake travels to Pandora, and assumes control of his avatar body, delighted at being able to walk and run once again as a whole being. Sent deep into Pandora's jungles as a scout for the soldiers that will follow, Jake encounters many of Pandora's beauties and dangers. There he meets a young Navi female, Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña), who teaches him the ways of her people: the Omaticaya clan of the Na'vi. Despite having originally been sent to gain the trust of natives, and convince them to abandon their Hometree, which sits above a large deposit of unobtanium, Jake finds himself caught between the military-industrial forces of Earth, and his love for his adopted home and people. He is forced to choose sides as the humans grow increasingly violent in their mining activities, and the oppressed Na'vi rise up to protect their home, resulting in an epic battle that will decide the fate of an entire race.

  • I actually didn't like this movie. Maybe because it reminded me of ferngully which I hate so much, the action was cool

  • There are those who are of the opinion that while the visuals in this film are gorgeous, it still sucks because the story can be a bit predictable. That's all well and good, but what I want to know is how too many people who are of that opinion will say "Oh, just shut up and enjoy the pretty pictures!" when talking about the Transformers movies?

  • @bigguy167 Yeah the film cost alot, but also made a gigantic gross topping his other famous feature Titanic. With all the hype about there being a Trilogy I really that this is something that should take place. Though it will probly take another four five years to make the other two. Enough said Avatar is the best film EVER!!! Shame it's fictional I'd love to be a NA'VI!! XD

  • You have nice voice Ragin, very clear, smart, and welldone... is very funny this short review and i like it very much. I wish you continue to make things like this because is really entertaiment hear you and listen to you. I like Avatar as much as you and i hope Cameron please us with a great second movie with more content.

  • I'm glad to hear your one of the people who didn't see it in 3D, but still enjoyed it. Most people I think who watch it in standard I think are missing the sheer amazingness of how Impressive this film is.

The story may not be the most original piece of fiction, but It's the visuals that Elevate the movie greatly that it makes the film unique, as opposed to being a forgettable sci-fi adventure.

Though, I have to disagree when you said "not promoted enough." I think it caught too much hype.

  • the best picture of the year without a doubt nothing comes close

  • The movie just reminded me like how the Native Americans were drove out of their land, in this movie it is instead of blue people and instead of America, IT'S A WHOLE FUCKING PLANET

  • @RaginCanadianCritic This is clearly the best film of 2009
