A reliable, lag-proof, ~3s clock that can be used to schedule events going on in your world, like iterating a redstone clock, sending minecarts around a railway network, or even just hooked up to a redstone computer (albeit a very slow one...). The speed of the system is mostly intended for longer time frames than most redstone circuits in need of clocks use, such as the aforementioned.

Something I didn't discuss in the video is the use of water in place of lava. Whilst you can do so, water falls a lot faster than lava, and if you don't account for this and build the stream casings taller the system will just burn out in short order. You can similarly increase the time between shifts by increasing the height of the casings.

  • A ghastly polkadot one with leprechauns. Incidentally, it manages 3 seconds between shifts, give or take based on lag.
