Thanks to the loser with no life who gave many thumbs down to several of my videos at the same time!

Jan Peerce sings "Ecco ridente in cielo" from Rossini's "Il barbiere di Siviglia." This very rare recording is from a circa 1940s radio broadcast, probably "The Celenese Hour: Great Moments in Music."

  • The skill of this great tenor in florid music is awesome what a wonderful, wonderful recording. The only tenor with a voice that was as dark and ringing as Peerce's with great skill in florid music was the wonderful Hermann Jadlowker. Bravo Peerce!!!

  • VERY NICE. EARLY PEERCE AND WELL SUNG AS ALWAYS.

  • Was Lindoro or any other Rossini role ever sung by him on stage? A pity if not so. The music of this aria and the voice seem very well suited to each other, and the easy agility of the cantor makes light work of the more florid passages.

  • Peerce's delivery of florid music is note-perfect.

  • @gaytenor So correct you are!!! Listen to this young tenor make it sound easy on live radio!

  • Beautifully sung. Thank you.
