Brazilian urban planning guru, Jaime Lerner, has cracked the problem of getting a city to run well. His idea - to put people before cars - has vastly improved residents' quality of life.

Lerner has revolutionised transport in his hometown of Curibita, diverting traffic around the centre. Huge pedestrian areas and parks have replaced busy roads and congestion has been tackled with an efficient bus service. As Lerner explains; "If you want to make life better for people, make the cities better."

O maior problema é a imagem que se vende lá fora do Brasil, um conglomerado de estados-países representados apenas pelo... Rio de Janeiro...... temos tantas coisas boas por aqui além de carnaval, senvergonhice, turismo sexual e traficantes, porém essa imagem estraga nossa reputação e ainda por cima atrai turistas indesejáveis...

Campos do Jordão, São Caetano do Sul, Maringá, dentre dezenas de cidades desconhecidas lá fora são excelentes lugares para se visitar e para quem quiser morar aqui.

Europeans (my relatives by the way) are the first problems, they brought slavery, they have killed natives, and now they are most politicians that really are screewing Brazil. 85% of Brazil has europeans roots. 45% is mixed , the rest is what they call white. i laugh when foreigners try to explain something about Brazil, Let me explain what you are ignoring. The Whole country was colonized by europeans, Curitiba isnt the only european colony in Brazil. Curitiba is for sure successful and beautiful. But as you say, the rest is not that good, wrong again, Brazil has tons of good cities. So stop spreading non senses talks and subjects you dont know.

The reason why Curitiba is successful in comparison to the rest of Brazil, is that it was settled by European immigrants from central Europe and Japanese, Arabs, they were middle class and succeeded when no one else did. They were great farmers and business people.
