This is a Elman Simple Recurrent Network with 5 context layers (Tower Network) and 30 hidden nodes and a bias node for input and in the hidden layer going to the output.

This network was trained on this level, using a genetic algorithm with elitism turned on.

  • Is it punished for being hit while being Big Mario?

  • @mutehero7 It is given a lower score if it is mario instead of fire mario. It is also given a lower evaluation score if it's little mario. You can think of the evaluation score as a way of giving rewards and punishments. But it is a complicated formula taking into account completing a level, how far in a level it got how much damage it did (how many kills), coins collected and a couple of others.
