This is especially the voice of a kid who never grew up. Even as an adult Goku is still a pure and innocent child. Gokû is always spontaneously.
Toriyama drew a wacky manga where the king of the world is a dog and you are surprised by the voice of Gokû ? He's NOT a manly super hero ^^'
Who cares if Gokû has a high-pitched voice when he is adult and muscular ? He sounds innocent, naive and kind ;) It's all that matters.
