Beyonce has grown in talent sice she stepped on the scene.
I thik Ms. James was more insulted they didn't ask her to perform the song
at such a prestigious event.
So in turn the anger was aimed at Beyonc.
I love the song personally so as long as no one is butchering it I 'm good1

In my humble opinion, the song was chosen to describe the bench mark achieved. Beyonce was chosen to reflect the changing of the guard to that affect. She reflects the current generation's interpretation of the intent of the song. I applaud both Etta and Beyonce. Etta can be proud that her song has been carried over to the new guard!
