December 27, 2006. Giant fruit bats hanging from the lights in the "wings of the wild" section of the Cincinnati zoo. I got a bit of one yawning, just adorable.

  • um yeah this isnt a giant fruit bat - there's no such thing. you probably mean a giant flying fox bat - they also eat fruit.

  • I don't know the exact species, I was just going off of what the sign says at the zoo. It appears I'm being corrected by everyone :P

  • ...Bats aren't scary. =\ Even the little ones that swoop down sometimes at dusk. They're just eating the mosquitoes flying around you. You should be thanking them! x3 [comment for Sherlock]

  • I know. When I was a little kid, I wanted a pet bat soooooooooooooo much. Those flying foxes are SOOOO cute. Just like cats, only with wings, and they hang upside down, and their poop makes you throw up. BUT THEIR STILL CUTE!

  • This whole clip is batty.

  • @speralyoness Flying foxes ARE fruit bats. their special headshape and ears resemble foxes, and are called such as well, but they are bats.

  • in our country we have this freaking creature in a population of 300 in the wild ., they eat fruit and the stool is the the fertilizer in tree in its soil... and we also have "monkey eating eagle"., and the largest shit crocodile in the world (21ft long"the only one in the world) and the largest EAGLE in the world this species only found in our country.. (our weather is sunny, rainy only) i didn't even see a snow in my whole got damn life..

  • wow those are huge compared to the tiny ones in rochester

  • nasty fuckin' rodents!

  • I faved this JUST because of the yawning one!

  • aww they're so cute!!!

  • @speralyoness its a flying fox, look at the head structure ( witch resembles a fox )

  • @speralyoness ACTUALLY, it isn't a bat at all. What you see here is the rare Cornish batterpillar - a very easy mistake to make.

Kidding aside, thanks for the upload. Whatever they are, they're cute!

  • in sydney, at australia, you see these things flying all around at night.

if you go to the botanical gardens during the day, you can see them all hanging from the trees :)
