This was supposed to be a burn rate comparison of P-6 (sorbitol, kno3, aluminium dust) and P-7 (sorbitol, kno3, aluminium dust, iron oxide dust). I used a naked thick noodle of P-6 as an igniter and that was probably the mistake, as the hot gases ignited the sides of both fuel sticks and the whole cardboard rig literally ceased to exist not even a puny second after the flames popped out. The camera was about three feet away and zoomed in and even there it felt disturbingly hot.
I'm using P-6 noodles as igniters in my rockets when electric igniters are either unavailable (due to battery being dead usually) or not suitable (motor without wiring holes and/or thin nozzle). They work better than a green visco which doesn't always ignite the mix. The mistake here was using a naked noodle instead of one coated in paper and aluminium foil.
