They have big cats down at the humane society. Everyone wants kittens... so many nice big adult cats, who'd make perfect pets, go without homes...

And I have heard the African Lion females purring. Watch "the last lioness" on animal planet as my proof.
Cheetah and Lioness are the biggest cats that purr like a domestic cat..
Greater cats all purr but it comes off different than a domestic cat or any lesser wildcats.

@kurtanglekobebryant Yes, cheetahs purr, but cougars are larger than cheetahs. I've heard that lions purr on exhale only, this isn't a "true" purr
