I cant believe that its been two years already since I joined YouTube, but the sign-up date doesn't lie: 02/07/2007

Man, I was a completely different person back then. The James Bond 007 AMV Collection, my flagship series, was still mostly in my head and only one actual video

Once again, it is solely because of you, my audience, that helped my YouTube career get as far as it has come by supporting my videos.

I did a little math work: As the second anniversary of #4s premier, and my account as well, I decided that it would be the most fitting to release #16, and initiate the fourth season. The smallest of details are important to me like that.

"Love Hina"...It was William who introduced the first volume of the hilarious, yet sweet manga back in early '06. I literally had to stop reading and just laugh off Keitaro's latest atrocity before continuing. Sure, it has its repetitive moments, and the progress of romance between him and Naru Narusegawa tends to drag on, but I believe it rightfully earned all the acclaim and awards it did.

"Licence To Kill" was a good installment of the Bond franchise. It took full advantage of the tough and serious Bond that Timothy Dalton portrayed in The Living Daylights by setting him on a quest for revenge against Franz Sánchez, who had his closest CIA ally, Felix Leiter horribly maimed and his wife killed.

...Hmm, I know what you must be thinking...

"Well now, that definitely sounds like Keitaro couldn't fill Bond's role! What the hell were you thinking in choosing Love Hina for this video?!"

Sometimes the chosen anime or video game goes well with both the song and the movie, but in the case of the latter, that's just a secondary objective. My loyalty is always to the music, above all else, and to find the best matching visuals to create an incredible video experience. By carefully observing the tone of Gladys Knight, and the substance of the lyrics, I made the decisions to have Naru Narusegawa to personalize both in the video.

And besides that, with all the times shes punched the shit out of Keitaro without hesitation, I imagined that she is indeed licensed to kill. *laughs*

Shortly after finishing the manga, I had made that decision to use the series for "LtK". So after asking William to show me the anime, I was dumbfounded to see how radically the production team had departed from the original material, throwing in scenarios and characters seemingly at random with little to no consistency to the story.

There was no way the Love Hina anime would ever be used for this video, mostly because a lot of the key scenes from the manga were gone, but also because I could not, and would not allow such garbage to be associated with my work

(William) "Okay, so then what? Are you going to use the manga itself or something?"

(Jason) "Huh. Actually, yes, I think that's a great idea!"

At first, I used to think that my vision for #16 could only be accomplished on Flash, but then, just by chance, I discovered a new editing software that not only helped me acquire all of the footage straight from the DVD's, but could also dynamically animate the image stills of the manga even better than the way I dreamed I could.

The majority of these Manga Music Videos seem to be just ordinary slide shows with little to no motion or transition effects. But then again, Ive seen some that must have taken an incredible level of talent and planning to accomplish. I always strive for innovation and perfection in each of my works, yet Ill always be in the process of learning new techniques and refining tested ones.

"If it was a good idea in the first place, then it shouldn't require so much effort to make it work."
-Jason Mena

This will be an Animated Music Video (Yes, I'm still calling it an AMV, because I want to, and I can.) the likes of which you have never seen before...and I promise that it will make even my casual viewers rethink everything they thought they knew about my collection already

I hope you will enjoy #16 as this represents the highest level of creativity and immersion seen in this collection yet...and a level that you will only continue to see rise in the future...

Your feedback, whether being praiseworthy or constructive, is always welcome.

  • have you ever thought about doing a vampire knight one with casino royal's theme song

  • No, I'm afraid I've never heard of "Vampire Knight" before.

The source material for "#21: You Know My Name" has been decided upon for at least two years now, and I've recently chosen the material for "#17: Goldeneye", which has long eluded me since I started this project.

Each of the anime and games chosen so far reflect both the best possible choice for each song, and the series' that I have personally enjoyed.

I'll take you up on your recommendation. And who knows, I may use it for "#23".

  • whats the name of the song at the beginning :)))

  • It's called "Solitude". It was from one of the soundtracks of the Love Hina anime. (and it's just about the ONLY thing from it that I will allow to be associated with my video)

It was given to me by the friend whom I'd eventually dedicate this video to.

  • mate how did you get writing to mach the Words to the song

  • If you're asking about the font, it"s called "Anime Ace".

All it really took was a lot of patience and in finding the perfect scenes from the 14-volume series.

When it comes down to the lyrics, it helps if you're the type of person who tries to find more than one meaning to the words that people say.

  • thank you and it is a good show and the theme song "you know my name" would fit perfectly with it, i wonder what you would use for goldeneye?

  • Licence To Kill was one of the most underrated Bond movies (along with Moonraker) - great storyline and visual effects, great action, fantastic Bond Girls (Carey Lowell&Talisa Soto). Timothy Dalton was brilliant Agent 007!

I also adore theme song performed by Gladys Knight.

  • its a great melody thx for the video
