Tradition or tourism.
The Australian government is considering banning people from climbing Ayers Rock in deference to the Aborigines who consider it sacred. Around 350,000 people visit the site - known as Uluru by the native population - every year. Of those, around 100,000 climb the 1,142ft landmark. It is world heritage-listed and is famed for its shifting red-ochre colors. If the park authorities responsible for the icon have their way, climbing could be banned within 18 months. Chris Burns, tourism minister for the Northern Territory that is home to the rock, is opposed to a ban. Local officials claim fully closing Uluru would worsen Australia's steadily declining tourist numbers. Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd spoke out against plans to stop people climbing Ayers Rock as debate raged about the ban. Rudd said public safety and other concerns could be addressed through appropriate management plans. But a spokesman for the traditional Aboriginal owners, Vince Forrester, said he was 'relieved' that it was now a step closer to becoming a reality.

@swevixeh1 Hence, they become unemployed. Also, their children rarely graduate from grade 9 (the last compulsory grade) with passing marks (the main exception to this would be the iranians and european muslims). Instead, far too many of them get caught in some ghetto negro lifestyle where it's all about "ho's and bitches" and failing at life. My point is that immigration to europe is a mess. far too often, we get the damaged or useless goods and it's just a horrible spiral from then on.

@Kirkzzy Well, perhaps you aussies aren't being enslaved by modern political correctness to the same extreme extent as us swedes (and from such an early age). Then again, we do have a quite strong tradition of government interference. Also, the swedish media isn't just portraying muslims like some kind of "ewige jude". Far from it. In fact, they are often portrayed as the victims of "Islamophobia" and "racism" when in truth, many of them don't have the skills sought after by employers.
