Two years ago yesterday Michael Jackson went to join Sam Cooke, Marvin, Otis and James Brown in the Great Blue Yonder. I wanted to get this out to mark the day so it's a bit rough around the edges.

Ahhh... the 80s!! Formative musical years, and the intensity and excitement served up by the self styled King of Pop on 'Bad',' Billie Jean' and' Thriller' (to name but a few) left an impression on me back then. Regrettably, I had to give the dance moves a wide berth due to being challenged rhythmically below the waist, an infliction my wife insists I retain to this very day!!

'Man in the Mirror' was written by Glen Ballard and Seidah Garrett and did good business on the other side of the pond. My personal favourite version is by James Morrison on which this hapless attempt is sadly based.

To be serious for a moment, it's good take a look at yourself from time to time. I like to take about thirty minutes every day and it always puts me in a good mood. What's not to like? I'm conditioned to look past wrinkles, receding hair line and the bits that frequently have started falling off. Hmmmm... not very serious after all....

The message is a good one though. What are you doing to make a change? Hell, what am I doing? Sadly, not enough. Teacher report mode .... must try harder.

  • Nice guitar work! Nice feel you got going!

  • @kaknockitoff Thank you!! The bathroom is a great place to feel a song. Great acoustics. I recommend it!!

  • you sing from the heart and that's a gift man..! thumbs up!

  • @TomCoteMusic Thanks Tom. That's a lovely comment coming from such a talented fella. You have to get inside the songs you sing. I don't think I've always understood this but I'm learning to do it more now.

  • Very nice...sounds nothing like Morrison, however. You have your own voice and it works. P.S. some say that the bathroom has the best acoustics.

  • @bettyfelon1 Having discovered the bathroom acoustics, I now do all my recording in there. We have one bathroom so I have to choose my time for going in there carefully!! Thanks for the nice compliment Betty.
