@spike378 Big thumbs up! The North Side is cramped, crowded, and filled with rude, obnoxiously loud, ignorant, uneducated liberal, white people. The south side has people that care about education and ways to literally improve the entire city. And it is more ethnically and religiously diverse. I have friends from the south side. No trouble at all. I ran into a few North Siders and they hated me because I wasn't rich, drunk, and pathetic like them. Thanks for saying the south side rules.

IMO south side is way better than north side. NS has no parking, smaller streets, dominant white culture. SS has wide streets, alot more parking, and cultural diversity. But some reasons all the money for renovation goes toward North side. Even the train stations being fix are all north side. Its CTA fault that didnt put crash bumpers in front of CTA station in Cermak/Chinatown to prevent such tragedy. That ramp is really dangerous.
Where are the people I don't ever recall Chicago looking and feeling this dead and/or empty?? I live in NYC and you can't find an empty street here.

@ranus69 This was New Years Day morning -- everybody was still asleep;-)

It's too bad IIT didn't get as involved in transforming its surrounding neighborhood as the University of Chicago did in Hyde Park (which was in Bronzeville's predicament 55 years ago). It takes a strong insititution to accomplish that kind of change, and Bronzeville didn't have that. Just predatory landlords, bank redlining, out-for-themselves "community leaders", and a series of aldermen with their palms out.

On New Year's Day morning, a red light in front of a closed store means "nail it". --from Artistmac's Rules of the Road;-)
