Mohammed Mounir - علّي صوتك ('Alli Soutak')

Mohammed Mounir, nubian-egyptian singer and actor, performs 'Alli sawtak' from the movie 'Al-Massir' ('Destiny', 1998, directed by the legendary master of egyptian cinema Youssef Chahine, (January 25, 1926 - July 27, 2008), where he brilliantly portrayed the role of Gypsy musician Marwan in the medieval 12-the century arab Andalusia, epoque of Ibn Rushd (Averroes). In the movie, Marwan escapes an attempt of assassination by religious fanatics - a reference to some prominent figures in the modern Arab world, such as Algerian Rai singer Cheb Hasni, or Egyptian writers Naguib Mahfouz and Farag Foda. "Marwan and I are one and the same," - says Mounir, describing the character as an "ambitious artist who does not believe that anything should be deemed sinful in art."

Mounir sang in the soundtracks for nine movies of Chahine productions, he said he is proud to be Chahine's "voice in cinematography."
