When I walked into the club the music was blasting so loud I could feel the vibrations of the 808 drums through my shoes. There were so many unfamiliar faces in the room, but I didn't mind. I was used to being in places with a lot of new people. The key is to stay cool, and act like you know what you're doing... not matter how much you don't.
"I'm going to find Amber." Joe smiled before walking off, leaving just me, Kevin, and Danielle. I kind of wish Danielle wasn't here. Not to be a prick to Kevin's wife, but she just always got in the way. Whenever we wanted to do something, just the guys, she was there. She had Kevin absolutely whipped and it annoyed the hell out of me.
I made my way across the room to the bar, where there was actually no alcohol being served. I ordered a soda and sat on the bar stool. This night was going to be boring as fuck. The only reason we were invited to this party is because it's Amber's best friends sweet 16. Amber is Joe's best friend. Of course Joe dragged me along because he's got some creepy little crush on Amber that he's had for ages.
I didn't really feel like doing anything tonight, but we had to preform for this girl's birthday. All I knew was her name, and I could barely remember it, and I had never even met her. It's kind of weird we haven't even met the girl yet. Who knows when we're going to.
"Nick!" Someone called out. I turned around to see Amber making her way towards me, with Joe, and another person that I couldn't really see because everyone was blocking him or her.
They approached me, and I instantly recognized the person. It was the girl from the barbecue! It was her birthday?! What are the chances of Joe knowing Amber who knows the mystery girl?
"Nick, this is Rae DeLanco." Amber told me, and Rae smiled sweetly at me. Joe smiled at me excitedly. I told him about the girl. We looked at the photos taken at the picnic so he had a pretty good idea of what she looked like.
"Nice to meet you." I spit out, realizing I hadn't said anything at all yet. "Happy birthday."
"Thanks." She said in an innocent voice.

After my brothers and I preformed I made my way through the crowd to find the birthday girl. I found her standing with Amber talking quickly about something I couldn't really make out.
"Hey, birthday girl." I laughed awkwardly. She turned around and looked at me like I had two heads. Amber gave me a "go away." look. I just ignored it. Rae looked at me, waiting for me to say something.
"Did you like our performance?" I asked, searching my brain for something to say.
"Yeah. I'm really happy you could do it." She beamed.
"Just call me when you get home later." Amber cut in, before walking away.
I actually spent the rest of the night talking to Rae. She was really funny, and easy to talk to. I found myself opening up to her, and I haven't even known her one night. She listening to everything I had to say, and made me feel good about myself.
"Nick, it's time to go." Kevin rushed over to me. "The paparazzi are coming. Someone called them, and we gotta get out of here."
"Wait..." I tired to stop Kevin. I tried to tell Rae my phone number, but Kevin took my arm and pulled me away. I tried to fight him off, but it was no use. We needed to get out, and I would never see her again.
