We are on a 1 mile stretch of new watermain. There is a 1" copper water service that we have to go under, so its slow digging until we get around it. The main is going in the road, so all of the clay is getting loaded out onto to trucks, and the trench is all sand backfill.

  • Nice job. We did a main in a lrg. trailer prk. a few yrs back. had to cross a bundle of services ph,elec, catv @each trailer they were about 40-45ft apart in frnt of each home, over 300 to cross - P.I.T.A!! Said I would never take another trailer park, watermain again, with some of the other issues involved also like tunneling in the services under the homes. With the economy now I'd start on one tommrrow.

  • @howlandexcavating I hear ya on the trailer parks. Luckily all we have ia gas and water to work around on this job, so its not to bad. Services are just a part of the deal when doing underground. Long gone are the days of new constructuon subdivisions, where you can just wail and bail!

  • you guys work well together. hope you continue to post videos

  • @hammerdwn20 thanks! We have a pretty good crew. I try to get vids together when I can. I will post more in the near future.

  • @wailnshred does it depend on the width to? In france if its deeper than 1m 30 and the width is 2/3 or less you have to.

  • @freddyreeks If it's deeper than 5 feet as per OSHA. Looks like they're less than 5 ft. below grade.

  • do you have regulations about useing wall supports on deep trenches if workers are in the trench?

  • Nice video! Digging in the street around existing utilities like that is a real test of an operator's skill.
