As I recall from my days of Mike Turner obsession (inspired me to learn guitar, even), it was Mike Turner, the original guitarist of Our Lady Peace, who picked up "The Age of Spiritual Machines" by Ray Kurzweil, The band was inspired by the book and all the concepts it brought up, including virtual immortality that might be afforded to human beings with future technology. The man reading at the intro is Ray Kurzweil and I think the voice from 2:38-3:00 is Raine Maida.

@lolhaxored the voice in the beginning is Ray Kurzweil, author of "The Age of Spiritual Machines", the book after which this album is named. Not sure if that's the same voice at 2:38...

@oneManArmy i THINK it's Ray Kurzweil (hence the RK in most of the speaking bits), he made lots of future predictions, and he reads some bits from his book. If i'm right the album was inspired by him, but i'd like someone to confirm that too as i could be wrong :)
