  • The performance was okay. What I didn't like was the conductor not giving good preps for breathing after the end of phrases. The ictus is consistently on the same level as beat four. The performers need to see the prep for "one" with the tip of the baton raised higher so that the ensemble can see the downbeat coming and consequently "breathe together." Often the phrases are cut off too short on beat four because of this deficiency, and the phrases do not give a natural feeling of repose.

  • And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why this has been one of my favorite pieces I've ever played. Absolutely stunning job, CSU! This is by far one of the best, if not THE best, job I've encountered of portraying the emotion Grainger put forth into this piece. I am literally in awe. I've played this many times, sitting in as 1st Clarinet, so I cringe when I hear it performed with no emotion. Nice job guys and gals :)

  • WOW! This is the CSU Wind Orchestra? that group has really come along. For those that dont know, the CSU WO is not the top ensemble, and is comprised of mainly freshman and sophomore undergraduate music education majors... not graduate performance majors. They are getting a fantastic education!

  • Columbus State University.

  • I love this song! My hs wind ensemble is playing it for competition this year. This is one of the best pieces I've ever played, and this group plays it so well! What school is this?

  • OH wait...I just checked the repertoire list. This is the Wind Orchestra, not the Wind Ensemble.
