I have a 336 and its also in 35 Remington mine was doing the same thing and it was ended up being all you need to do is tighten up the screws on both sides of it near the loading gate

2 nice rifles right there . I have several of each , dont which I like better the 35 or the 30-30 .

@blkft12 my dad shoots 300 my uncle shoots 30-06 and my cousin shoots 270 and i shoo 35 remington from hornady and shoot tighter groups at 150 yards than all of them

They are essentially the same rifle. The 336 may feature a gold trigger.....and a better set of "irons" but they both are great rifles. I own both.

.35 remington has ballistics very similiar to .30-30, just makes bigger hole. not nearly as powerful as .308 or .30-06, but an excellent round out to about 125 yds, unless using Hornady Leverevolution.
