Another sock puppet video by Lauren Fincham!
Not long ago, in a corporate puppet park not far away, a large company began an ill-conceived software project.
Inefficient, incompatible, and complicated it was -- unwanted by those who would use it.
Despite empty words of work/life balance, diversity seminars, and "we're a team" -- the company demanded unrealistic deadlines, project scope creep, and even more productivity from its overworked puppet population.
The dedicated people-of-fabric sacrificed family and life for long hours, nights, and weekends --
-- and their reward?
Not a bonus.
Nor additional time off.
No banquet.
Or even new eye buttons.
Instead, a gift at their desks one morning:
A blue rubber ball and a certificate of gratitude: "Please enjoy this stress ball."
It's good to be appreciated.
Within six months, they were laid off anyway.

One time at band camp... No, once at Convergys they gave out Blue Earth Balls that were squishy. The sad thing is that they were Marine Corp handouts. Just imagine getting a regifted Blue Earth Ball. We used to throw them at each other.
