Two eggs hatched on October 9th. The others never hatched. The two baby tortoises are getting so big!

How hot is it there? Oh and can a tortoise tolerate 45 degrees celsius?
How big do they grow?What do they eat? What temprature does the babies tolerate?
What are the breeds of the tortoises which tolerates the 45 degrees celsius?

San Diego is about 80f degrees right now.They grow to beabout 14 inches long. They eat vegetables and plants. The eggs are currently incubated at 95f degrees, should hatch any day now.
Tortoises can withstand high heat if they have shade and lots of water.

Hello,
Nice tortoise!
I'm just curious, did you leave the eggs in the ground and wait for them to hatch or did you dig them up and put them in an incubator?
My tortoise just laid eggs and I would prefer to keep the in the ground. Also, the temperature is very warm so I think they'll be fine.

@lessonater
We generally keep the eggs in the incubator at 85 degrees. We had one clutch hatch from the ground, but they were all sickly and did not survive. If you decide to keep them in the ground, you need to watch for rodents, skunks, and water.
Good luck! Ours should hatch any day.
