the problem isnt zeman or canada, its the fact that china still doesnt recognise dual nationality which forces you to relinquish home citizenship for free access to china. if not you have to apply for a visa for every visit, an arduous process that doesnt even guarantee entry. for many doing business that isnt an option.
i have the same problem, i was born and raised in hk but kept my british passport for uni and family, if i want to go back after my studies i'll have to do the same :(

HK passports are different from Chinese ones. He has a "home return card" which allows him to go into china w/o a Passport. However. a HK passport is accepted in many countries in which a Chinese passport is not. It's different. We're different.
