He was a great attacking midfielder. A testamont to his ability was real madrid signing him back when it wasn't commonfor the big european teams to sign enflish players

Motson is the worst. But really no one stepped up to level a tackle on him. Poor defending really. Mcmanaman was pure class no doubt but he didn't train hard enough like giggs.

I'm a Leeds fan and when we were in the Champions League we played Real Madrid at home. They had Roberto Carlos, Figo, Raul, Guti, Casillas, Campo, and they played us off the pitch. But the man of the match that day was Steve McManaman who received a well deserved standing ovation and to this day it remains one of the best performances I have seen from a player, and if I could go back in time, I would happily pay to see that game again. A true lesson in how to play football.

i'm an arsenal fan...but i must admit macca is one from best english player of his generation...i wonder why hoddle not use him as first 11 at france 98...surely england will do better....
