This is a quick comparison video of a stock muffler and a Cobra slip-on muffler on a 2009 V Star 950. I don't have any excellent microphone for my video camera, so this is mainly meant to be a sound comparison. I'd say it is about 150% of stock sound as far as volume, but it sounds substantially meaner. I can't wait for the snow to melt so I can get out and enjoy!

I got the muffler from www.pipecity.com ... they are excellent people!

  • Not much difference... doing the stock exhaust mod will produce a better sound than the cobra slip on

  • @Boomersooner42 100% disagree now that I've been able to actually be out and ride it.. the drill out is only better at idle or not under load.

  • Thanks for the Video. It was very helpful. I have been thinking about new pipes for my xvs950T. The Cobra Slashdowns & Longshots seemed to be where it was at for me, but I'm now rethinking that. This slip on also has a nice price (just over $200.) Thanks again and enjoy the ride.

  • @GoyBoy13 yeah honestly after having it out for a few weeks now.. I'd never want anything louder (like you'd get w/ full pipes). I am going to get a video done here in motion sooner or later.

  • I just bouth today the Cobra Slip on for my bike. I wanna ask you if you add any fuel management systems of you just did the slip on by it self?

  • The slip on is by itself. There's no need for FMS with just a muffler swap.

  • Thanks I have the cobra slashdown and fi200r but had to remove them, the bike was running way too rich, 100miles per full tank. and I was getting gas in the oil I called cobra but they could offer no help. they said It was because I live in Canada and it is cold up here. So I have been looking at the slip on. how is the noise at cruise speed? Thnx for the Vid

  • Hi i also put the cobra slip-on on my 950 loved the loader sound but was a bit TINNY so i took the end off and baffle tube out and wrapped exhaust wadding round the baffle and put it back together .Now its a little quieter and sounds much more authentic if you no what i mean.More of a THUD THUD and im sure it will stop the condensation inside the muffler leading to rust.
