  • Both myself and my neighbor stood on it while it was suspended a few inches off the floor. No problem. Total weight, 400 lbs. Yes, we both need to go on an exercise program!

  • Love your lift! I've been considering building one as well, I had a couple of questions if you don't mind. First, do you think it's stable with 2 attachment points or do you think it would be better if it lifted at all four corners? I sketched up plans to build one using a hoist and using pulleys to double the line to lift both sides, but I worry it might be a little tippy. Second, I just wondered how big it was? Thanks, this thing is awesome, and it makes me fairly confident my will work.

  • Sorry for not using the reply command. See the next post for you answers. The cage is currently open for easy access on both sides and I have a small wood tray in the bottom to let me know there isn't anything hanging out of the cage before accending into attic. That would be bad!

I've added a rocker switch in the garage to eliminate using the 5 ft hoist pendant from the attic only. They're both wired in paralell.

Used keys in a keyed shaft for your wire rope drums.

    out of time...

  • Great video!!! I am trying to figure out how to build one myself. did you use a winch or a hoist? If a hoist, how did you connect the shaft to the hoist. I got a hoist from harbor freight and would like it to pull from at least two sides , not sure I have the right thing. Can you help me out? Thanks, Joe

  • Great video and lift !! Is that the cable rod from a garage door you used to pull 2 cables simultaneously?? If so how did you attach the motor/winch to it?? Any details or better photos would be great ! Thanks again. Ras

  • @fingerlesswonder

    lol man

  • LOL! are you going to put a "green house" up there

  • pretty neat i need to make one to lift the grocery's and Costco loads to my front door with having to carry them up 20 stairs reason being my kitchen is on the top floor because i live on a cliff

  • how did u make it

  • Very nice. I have the same Harbor Freight winch and in my opinion it goes too fast. I wish it had been geared down to a lower spool speed. I know you can cut the speed in half by using a pully and more cable, but I like single lines. Also, it would be nice if it had a soft start, it just goes full speed as soon as you hit the switch. The price is nice though, only about $75 on sale. Keep a eye on the capacitor that is in the remote handle for this thing, mine started to leak after a few years.

  • ummm so is this made for like if you take books from your storgae and someone waits up there and then they load it then u real it up?

  • Nice! I like it, if I only had one the countless times my dad said, hey Will can you come help me get these things in the attic! lol
