One of Dunoon's aging buses that I've been trying to get a ride on for ages, but have either not had the chance or just plain not seen it. Although Dunoon was once dominated by Darts, there are now only a few left in the town and they don't come out to play very often. The gearboxes in these ones are clearly a bit knackered with age and this particular model was VERY rattly -- believe me, the camera didn't do it one bit of justice.

The driver was an enthusiast himself and was glad to let me have a peek at the cab when we stopped at Hunters Quay Holiday Village (HQHV)

  • an early J-reg plaxton pointer - NICE!

  • Yeah, a pretty knackered one at that. Depending on how hard the driver accelerates it hesitates in first gear and then jolts as it slams into second.

  • These things are actually only about 13 years old and should technically be late P or early R-reg - they were the last batch delivered to Jersey IIRC.

  • i'd love to tell you but i don't know! quite heavy :-)

alot heavier than the low-floor version for sure.

  • I'm thinking of buying one of these to convert into a camper van, any tips? Also, how much do they weight doe anyone know?

  • this one seems to have an idling problem too :)

  • on Arriva Midlands' ex London darts especially K542 ORH, that emergency window bar rattles VERY loudly at idle.

  • well, actually, the booming was coming from everywhere.. but the rattling was prominent at the back.

  • to me it seemed to come mostly from the back, particularly where i was pointing the camera.

it's hard to tell in the video because the camera quality is low.

  • i think the source of booming is the air canistor at the front, maybe if you filmed a bit near the front it would come out louder? to you did the booming (not the rattling) come from the front, middle or back?
