I was a teenager when the Turtles did this... oh, telling my age, but what a great time we had back then! Wish I could relive it all. Thanks guys for making it the best time on earth!!

@partyspecialists : The two singers who later went by the name of Flo and Eddie were the backing vocals on Springsteen's Hungry Heart and they also were with Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention.

@partyspecialists The Beatles did PLENTY of lip-synching on TV. They knew better than all how to play that game. They hated it and thought it was silly, but they were pros and--for the most part--acted like they enjoyed it.

Awesome creation, performance. Good hard work of Turtles lighting so many hearts with joy. Technical stuffs are not bothered about when your heart feels complete. This song is 50 years Young

The drummer is not even hitting his drums.

This is from Hullabaloo, aired March 7, 1966 on NBC.

The singers, the drummer and the tambourine are all live - the guitars aren't of course. You can even hear the studio mike on the lead singer blending with his recorded voice. Whoever came up with that set design was an idiot - one of the dopiest set conceptions ever.

One of the greatest male vocalist in rock and roll history. The band was pretty good too.
The Turtles original drummer moved on to join Crosby Stills and Nash.I guess he thought he was moving up.

@patascortitas that's bullshit the Beatles sang live and so did many bands and singers back in 60's it had nothing to do with the record company or managers or tv producers
-
Actually, he is singing with the song. The rest are pretending to play the instruments.
To all of you younger people who comment on "lip syncing" on these videos from the 1960's,know that the singers "of the day" were simply following the instructions of the record companies and tv producers back then whose main intention was to "produce a FINELY CRAFTED product that was IDENTICAL to the studio release, hence "Lip Syncing","Guitars NOT plugged in",etc. That was considered PRIDE in craftmanship back then,NOT like now !
Some artists did have enough cajones to defy "The Establishment"

I must say this: I've been diagnosed with a serious autoimmuned disease and these turtles videos have been keeping me in the best of spirits in between treatments. These vids have given me a fresh look out on life. I love life once again, and if any of the turtles happen to be reading this note, I want to thank you from the very bottom of my heart for re-establishing my love of life!
