Atlatl Hog Hunt Texas

This is a video of my first wild hog hunt using and atlatl and flint tipped dart on a friends ranch near Seguin, Texas. The atlatl is 31.5" in length and the dart is 9' 8" long. This is the most excitment I've had in a long time!....enjoy....jim

Wow.  Ancient man must have been extreamly skilled and patient to have hunted successfully with the atlatl.

@fliegeroh I think hunting often was a group effort in the past, greatly increasing the chances for an encounter. A lot of planning must have increased the chances for success. ...jim

That's awesome! I've killed hogs with everything from knives to guns but now I want to try a spear or atlatl!

@watertothepeople Unfortunately, I have not had another chance to hunt boar with an atlatl. I live in California and the hunting rules are strict out here. If they allowed atlatls I'd be out hunting right now! The Texas hunting laws are good ones and allow atlatls to be used at least for hogs....

@paleomanjim I know many times American Indians in the west used weapons, probably horses, and group effort to harass herds of bison into stampedes over a cliff. Getting the meat out of the gully was a different matter, I suppose.
