Private Kingsley Ward, Parachute Regiment, takes to the skies and flies solo in the specially adapted K21 glider. Its foot pedals are replaced with a hand lever, which means pilots with varying injuries, including amputees and other lower limb disabilities, can develop into competitive glider pilots flying against all-comers.

Pte Ward attended one of seven basic courses run each year by the Army's Wyvern Gliding Club at Upavon. Student pilots taking part are drawn from various service areas including patients from DMRC Headley Court under the Battle Back scheme.
