Very nice arrangement, interesting to hear it sung in French, I wonder who came up with translated lyrics. Schipa was a master interpreter of songs of this nature, the Italian language worked better for him but that's understandable since he was Italian. He does great in French also as this shows.

Thanks for posting this. When I was around 15 I found Schipa's italian version of this record for a dime in a second hand store. I loved it, but unfortunately, I broke it and haven't heard it since.

Laonirica ha ragione: c'e' un solo modo di cantare ed e' quello della scuola italiana, spagnola e francese dell' '800, mutuato dai due secoli precedenti di teatro d'opera. Ne sono testimonianza i risultati che ottiene Juan Diego Florez. Si tratta solo di studiare: se c'e' un po' di 'stoffa', si otterra' almeno un canto dignitoso, evitando di sbraitare come i Di Stefano ed i Del Monaco, che di 'stoffa' ne avevano da vendere, ma l'hanno in gran parte sfilacciata.
