Vibrobot Swarm; Abstract Autonomy

Vibrobot Swarm, Video taken from my MA Fine Art Exhibition.

Questioning the notion of authorship of art created by technology; is authorship of importance?; can authorship be granted to a machine?; is a machine capable of 'creating' anything of artistic value? This is also a critique of the art making process.

These small robots operate in a similar way to ants, using emergent intelligence to 'create' an output which is of a higher standard than one could produce on its own.

I do not expect this exhibition to answer any of the questions posed; it is meant to implant the question of artificial intelligence, authorship and indeed its importance into the audiences mindset.
