Angeles National Forest in Southern California - The Narrows Fire burned for several days and threatened the mountain community of Wrightwood.
In my video, which I shot over two different days, we see skycrane's in two different configurations - one with large bucket dipping retardent, the other as a helitanker. I shot one as it came in to take water and let the camera roll during the whole process. It is included here uncut so you can see what they do and how long it takes to do it.
An interview with a member of the US Forest Service Pleasant Valley Hot Shot Crew out on the line, describing conditions they encountered.

Larry, did you cover the rain and rock slide in Forest Falls in 1999. I think I remember seeing your video. This is the best video coverage I have seen on a fire. Very good work.

yes, its another form of retardent. takes out alot of the O2 that fires need to burn. kinda like a liquid silica. that stuff in jerky packets that they say not to eat.

Yeah. Call it class A foam. If you got it, it works better than just straight water.
