  • Aren't the fret distances about the size of a guitar's fret distances? Just use your pinky and do finger exercises and you should be able to play it fine :S

    Well they are close to the same, but the reach is longer because its tuned in 5ths. The guitar is tuned in 4ths and 3rd.

  • Nice job! Yes indeed the mandocello is a lot of fun. I have a 1936 K-1 black-face that looks much like yours but has a truss of course. I find your finger picking technique on Liberty most intriguing! Great picken!!

  • you don't need a long reach because this instrument is not made for that! the fast runs and the melody is made by the mandolin, which is the substitute of the violin. the mandoloncello makes the parts of the cello so, chords and couterpart of violins!
