Autism Ontario - TV interview with an 8 year old

Derby gives a fantastic interview on the cable access show Daytime. Both he and his mother maintain their focus on the talking points they wish to express. Every show could use some of this spontaneity...lots of fun.

Quick question- you said that Derby has "high functioning autism", while another son has "Asperger's". I had always believed that they are essentially the same thing.. what difference is there?

@colorclown26 They are essentially the same in many ways. The label is used to help others understand the position within the spectrum. A big difference is usually speech and behavior when comparing. Aspies usually have no difficulty in speech but often have issues of anxiety and sensory overload.  One can cause the other.
