  • Thanks metalraider187 - he's credited in this clip too so I should look more carefully, duh.

I've started a channel at Take6 (the hires DivX video-sharing site). Called Classic Anime - take a look - search for a channel called CLASSIC ANIME - high quality!

Take6 puts YT quality to shame but YT has trillions more & isgreat for finding lost little gems like this which I'll probably post also since I can't seem to contact shino24.

  • No, I don't think it's available in higher definition. Can't remember where I got this video.

  • Thanks for the video.

    Where did you find it?

The song is part of the video, right? I think is an extraordinary choice.

  • Yes, song is part of the video.

  • Can anyone tell me when this was made?

It looks like very early 90's when Gainax were at that peak.

  • It was made in 1991.

  • It is sad to see this great work failing.

So many artworks, so many scenes.....and at the end, it was for nothing? Thats's hard.

  • I wish this had been made. It looks lovely.

  • R20 doesn't mean "Route 20". In Japan, when you take an off-ramp, "R" and a number is to show you the radius of the curve on the off-ramp you're taking. 20 meters is an unbelievably sharp curve, maybe only a motorcycle can take that curve. So it refers to the exit to the Galactic Airport, maybe?

  • hmm at 2.29 there is a black P on the yellow motorcycle, ive seen it before on FLCL does it mean anything?

  • ahh ive never heard of the artists, but ill look into them, when it comes to realism I think its easier to immitate than regular cartoon drawings of any sort, i mean all you have to do to draw something realistic is look at it, im pretty good at that heck my best drawings have been reference drawings, not to say that drawings i do from the top of my head come even close to decent so far, but i will keep trying and trying.

  • btw, I believe the following mangakas are much, MUCH better than YS:

    1. Takehiko Inoue (Vagabond, Slam Dunk! -- magically-realistic, incredibly expressive East-Asian faces)

    2. Masakazu Katsura (Zetman, I"s -- how to draw beautiful girls)

    3. Naoki Urasawa (Monster, 20th Century Boys -- bible of emotions and their respective facial expressions)

also, Michael Zulli is my fav. American comic book artist.

  • "... a fascinating glimpse into Sadamoto's head, motorcyles and all." ~gainaxpages

None other's! I can draw and copy someone else's art, but not as efficient as your average artist. I believe that as long as you know what IS beautiful, and know how to tell if your work resembles it (a seemingly duh-ly thing to say, but visit deviantart!), you need only learn the little tricks artists hide from you to be one of them. Like you, it'll take me forever... but that's okay -- we are eternal.

  • you mean sadamoto's?, me to however i have no talent for art,/wrists but i dont care that it takes me ten more years to become good at it, i think im pretty motivated to be great like him.

  • I've been studying his artbooks recently, trying to copy his style for a small poster. This trailer is a revelation of his passions, the height of his imagination and concept of beauty...

I love it when my idols confess themselves like that; it makes them so vulnerable, so naked -- so mortal. Art is about asking for your death, after all.

  • er thanks, ill look for that Take6 is it?
