A late night off-road ride in the mountains - in the cold, wet and snow. Aboard the BMW R1200GS with knobby tires. Sit back and enjoy this off-road ride. MVRTVCOM

  • Can you please review the Super Ténéré and have it be as in depth as this and your klr650 vids. I would love your thoughts on the Yamaha vs the BMW. Thanks

  • @bambikiller338 I would love to, as well as the Triumph which even more viewers have asked for. We sent a video proposal to Yamaha for this bike and never received even a courtesy "no" response from the people at the top. It would take you viewers to tell Yamaha and Triumph you want to see it. I won't hold my breathe, but I have great interest in doing it. Thanks, Bill MVR

  • Bill, why do you like a stiff suspension while off-road? Don't you normally want soft?

  • @steedamike Soft is bad off-road, just like the wrong tire air pressure. Soft limits ground clearance, dulls the bikes handling and allows the suspension to bottom more easily and often - poor bike control. Off-road you want the softest setting possible that is compliant, balanced and doesn't bottom except on a very large bump. On a bike like this, this usually means full stiff - and this often isn't stiff enough. Soft is a good way to crash, get stuck, or look like a squid. Bill MVR

  • You seem un-phased by the snow. Are the knobbies that good?

  • @osufrdave The knobbies are much better than you'd expect. Someday we'll get the video up from Yosemite where we rode through ridiculous snow. Snow will always win, but the bike and the tires work better than you'd expect. MVR

  • @ericplloyd I'd crawl out! No, really, thank you for your concern. I'm a safety nut. My speed, and thus risk taking, is adjusted by conditions like dark, cold, help available. I more than anyone don't like to crash. Look at some of the other videos, this was slow as demanded by the situation. MVR

  • I'm sure you ride with a heated vest. I was thinking more along the lines of, god forbid, if you crash, you injure your leg, you've no cell signal. How would you walk out or not go hypothermic? Okay, maybe I'm being a little too "what-if-ish"...

  • @osufrdave Crash??? Much more likely to freeze to death. For tonight's ride it will be 29 degrees again. Thanks! MVR
