  • what is it you were doing when poking the sand with your shovel?

  • By pounding the sand with the end of the shovel or stomping your feet, the disturbance will cause the clams to retract their siphons (necks) which are right at the surface or just below. This causes a noticeable dimple or hole to form in the sand. On drier sand the dimples can sometimes be seen without pounding.

  • never tasted/tried this clam, how they taste? and how you cook them?

  • Cover them in flour, egg, and cracker meal and fry them up. They are also good in stir fry.

  • What beach is this at?

  • Ocean Shores in Washington

  • wow those are some big clams...they are a lot smaller down in the humboldt area

  • You're a pro.

  • here in Malaysia, these things are hella expensive to eat, no idea why..

  • @johnballs These clams taste great, but I don't like the ones that are too large, they tend to be a little tough, I like the medium size ones that are a little bigger than your finger. I usually cook them with a little bit of vegetable oil, hot/sweet peppers, garlic, and black bean sauce.

  • Great tasting clam! pretty easy to harvest but hella work to clean them!!

    Nice catch guys

  • They look like corn dogs! 1:00

  • @W7PE I'm thinking it's the combined take with the camera man

  • OH MY! 25 Razor babies? The limit hasn't been but 15 for , oh, since 1972 and you're how old? Hmmm,,, I see Nothing! Outside of that your digging technique is fairly good. I don't give that compliment very often. Perhaps you might try your hand at digging the "forest Clam".
