Shelby's new walker

Shelby got her new walker on Friday, June 27th. Today is July 1st and already she's been walking like crazy! She walked all the way from PT this morning down to the hem/onc unit and then back past PT and all the way out to the van! I kept asking her if she wanted to ride in the stroller or take a break and she just kept shaking her head "NO" at me and walking even faster. She's a very determined little girl, and moving ahead so quickly with this. This particular walker is a loaner from PT, but we're working on getting a even better, made to go backwards walker for her. The one she's using is actually a front walker that the wheels have been turned around on so it goes backwards. This is better for her since she tends to lean forward when she walks while pushing something. She has made some amazing progress since her initial diagnosis of brain cancer in October. To see her up and walking makes my heart soar. I can see a difference in her balance in just this short time, and hopefully this will give her the extra confidence she needs to try to go it alone!!!
