This is video of the bow of the New London... the draw bridge raising up and the doors closing. The New London was built in New London, CT in 1979. The other vessel in the picture is the Caribbean built in 1972 in Warren, RI. Liz and I watched the vessel pull out of Orient Point. Nothing exciting this time. I've seen one of the cables snap and watched a gentleman see how long he could stand on the "draw bridge" as it came up.
huh...wonder what the odds are of both the new london and carribean being docked at OP at same time, since they the least used of all the boats, and the caribean is only weekends in the summe. both usually run on the half hour while the larger boats on the hour

Used to take the Cross Sound Ferry from New London to Orient Point visiting my Aunt out in Belport, Long Island. BTW.... I went to Chariho in the 70's.

I've been on the New london hundreds of times, I remember in '94 taking it in the summer evening and eating at Orient by the Sea... I was so young and my grandparents were alive, it was awesome.. we walked in fields of gold...

dude that cable snapped? i've been taking csf for the last 20 yrs! back in like '95 a huge wave hit the caribbean in the sound and came over the top deck splashing like 20 ppl including my mother. she hates that boat now, only john h. haha
