Much closer to "clay" speedway than modern NASCAR will ever be. This kind of racing will always be more interesting than even Formula One. England still does something similar called Rallycross. Part of the track is blacktop, part of it is dirt, but it's done with factory built cars modified for racing. Australia was never big on oval tarmac racing. The current series is called V8 Supercars, and they all have curves that differ from each other

@NitlasTV sorry to leave you 2 posts, but most of the cars were Hornets, because at the time, people thaught if they had a Hornet, they'd finally get to win a race

@NitlasTV no, there were Chevys, Fords, Plymouths, Dodges, Pontiacs.... In fact, there were others, but I don't remember them

I was there 52-59 every year. Truly awesome. Yeah there were some surprises with the Hudsons, twin-H power, The Hornets, My favorites, Goldsmith, the Flock brothers, Lee Petty. many of which came out of backgrounds as moonshine runners. You really learned to drive runnin from the revenuers.

the Hudsons were 308 cubic inch 6 cylinders and when Marshall Teague got done tuning one it sported 350 ci with 220 horsepower but massive torque that made the Hudson Hornet with its step down knock the socks off any Chrysler hemi or Olds 88 I have a twin H power setup my dad had
