i think the opossite...i think that ballet is harder...u have to be not only a dancer...u have to be and an actress,,,u have to stand up on ur tips of ur toes...and u have to hide all the difficulty and the strenght that it needs...!!!!!!! and some other reasons that i can't explain because i'm grom Greece and i don't know so much English....

I love dancing and I love gymnastics. But, I think that ballet is something completely more than a sport. Ballet has the ability to take you into a fantasy world with romance, passion and adventure that gymnastics just can't take you. I'm not saying that gymnastics can't be artistic or isn't worthwhile, but I feel that a floor routine, the most expressive of the apparatuses, cannot transport you into a story, you cannot lose yourself in the emotion or passion.

you said it was nothing but flipping and bending their spines in half, ya and i said sure coming from someone who's just jealous of the talent and hard work they did that you could never do

This is a weird debate because; dance is SUPPOSE to tell a story using the skills that you do. Gymnasts do what they do for power, precision, and to be judged. Gymnasts aren't supposed to be telling a story, they're suppose to be perfect. In a dance you don't get deducted if your turn wasn't all the way on releve, or if you overstepped coming out of your leap. They're both equally hard, but completely different.

@XxtwilightxX45 Nothing in the world has ever been accomplished without passion. Think before you post/say anything about gymnastics not requiring passion. -_-
gymnastics isnt a art, isnt passion, isnt beauty, isnt anything but girls doing flips and bending there spines in half.

@XxtwilightxX45 I don't agree with gymnastics only being flips and back bends. It is passion, because every sport you need passion to strive for perfection and to achieve your goals. And there are 7 types of gymnastics, including artistic gymnastics for males. Some gymnasts (like the gymnast in the 60's - 80's and Nastia Liukin f.x.) had beautiful and gorgeous lines. For me gymnastics is a perfectionist sport while ballet is more of an artform, where you need perfection, passion and beauty.

no offense to artistic gymnasts but it is kinda gross. it should just be called body contortion. ballet is so much deeper and passionate. Ballerinas take all the strength and flexibility and make it look beautifully befforless. gymnastics looks forced and strained.

@Dramaqueen1231000 Do you mean rhythmic rather than artistic because artistic gymnasts are becoming more power than artistic ...

@amigozz4l
is there a difference between them? (gymnastiques arithmétiques and gymnastique artistique) in french
lovlyanime 9 months ago
@lovlyanime Yes, in artistic gymnsatics you compete on balance beam, uneven bars, floor exercise and on vault. In rhythmic gymnastics you compete on floor with ribbon, hoop, clubs, rope and a ball and the exercises consist of flexibility rather than tumbling and power. Also you can compete with a team but artistic gymnastics is more of a individual type of gymnastics :)
