toucht of perfection

In 1963 she was in full vocal decline. although some incredible concert moments may deny it. Her ill-advised Paris Normas were still to come. The grand mezzo arias suit here just fine at this stage. She is really admirable here, the style, phrasing, musicianship always elegant and spot-on. Regine Crespin really owns this piece, but Maria delivers an admirable interpretation.

One of the glories of the mezzo repertoire. For me Callas was at her best singing in the mezzo range.
