Technically its a drsstc but the secondary doesn't match too well. It's primary tuned self driving and uses no gate drive chips. Pulse width is determined by doubler caps value. When the caps are empty the spark doesn't have any power to continue. Primary winding is fed through gate drive transformer and directly drives gates. Gates require bigger wattage resistors and TVS's in front of gate resistors, otherwise they get fried. Simple design but not as flexible.
Hi Do you using a discrete driver? can you send me the schematic of the driver of your tesla please?

@frosty956 So... uhh... *not yet in Electronics, but WILL be next year, the HS offers a course!!!* ... not exactly sure what do u mean by a "resonant" primary coil. How.. what is resonance of that?

@awesomelightning conceptually, not alot: a DRSSTC has a resonant primary circuit, an SSTC does not. Practically though, there are some other differences, because the peak power/current in the primary of a DRSSTC is much higher.

every thought of tuning a tesla coil to the beat of a song? :) that would be sweet

Why did u touch the spark LOL

What is the difference between a SSTC and a DRSSTC??????

That's pretty sweet man. I didn't think solid state coils like to be run bi-polar.
