This song is based on a poem by the 13th century Persian poet and Sufi mystic, Rumi. Mark's version of the song was inspired by a recording by The Burns Sisters, and the original music is credited to a musician/dancer named Zuleikha.
Mark performed this song on December 23, 2009, at the Abundant Life Center in Vancouver, WA, for the Christmas candlelighting service.
There are many variations of the poem circulating, and here is one of them:
