An example of a Celtis sinensis or Chinese Hackberry which has been developed using field growing techniques. A 2 - 3 year old tree was used initially, planted on a floor tile in the garden bed. Every 2 or so years the tree is lifted, root pruned, the trunk shortened, a new leader chosen and then developed for another 2 or so years. This tree was developed in this fashion for about 8 years now.
