  • Coe and Ovett - what a fantastic rivalry. Like Daley Thompson and Jurgan Hingsen in the same era. Wonderful athletes.Wonderful achievements. And Cruz, of course, a wonderful champion.

  • I feel so bad for ovett. he trains so hard only to have respiritory problems like that.

  • Earl Jones is from my region

  • and jonny gray. Man u are my hero. U got to be there somewhere.

  • who was that that tried to pick steve up...............you was it.

  • Cruz was awesome though. One of the all-time greats in the form of his career. Shame we never saw Cruz tearing it up in '86 & '87. Would've loved to see him against Konchellah & Elliott in'87

  • Such a shame Ovett was ill and unable to give himself a decent chance to defend his title. Considering Coe only had 6 months of training behind him, he also did remarkably well. He used the rounds of the 800m as training and sharpeners to get himself to a peak for the 1500m. Shame the 800m final came a bit too soon.
