Circus Boy performs the Stooge's song "Real Cool Time" Saturday April 11th 2009 at Northern Lights on Baltimore street in the theater district of Detroit. The show featured the return from Italy of Margaret Doll Rod of the Demolition Doll Rods who is known recently for her one woman show. The full Circus Boy line-up was in there for the first time I've seen them all together.

Some notable audience members in attendance included Anthony Kaczynski and Michael "Smitty" Smith members of Figures On A Beach, who were in town playing a gig at Paycheck's with their current band Fireking. Members of Almost Free also got into the spirit on the moment as the girls from Punk Fitness got the crowd going, those who were there got a taste of Detroit rock that was raw and high powered but overflowing with a delirium only evident in this magnitude at a Circus Boy show. Guest guitarist Ricky Rat of the Trash Brats played guitar for the last two songs thanks to Derek Murtagh who gave up his axe.

The venue is a great place to hang out and I always have fun at Northern Lights but the speakers for the PA system are on the ceiling directly in front of the light bars so light only falls on the very front of stage. That coupled with the inadequate number of mics for four guitarists added up to an almost certain waste of video coverage. The lead singer Mike didn't help matters by rolling across mic stands and holding the mic in front of monitors and guitar amps. With all of the problems, the band's performance was so intense and the connection with the audience was so direct the result was raw unrestrained excitement that turned out to be fantastic for our cameras. Thanks for watching.

Vocals - Circus Boy, Bass - Skid Marx, Drums - Sean Murtagh,
Guitar - Gary Adams, Derek Murtagh, Greasy Carlisi, Margaret Doll Rod and Ricky Rat

  • Who the hell is this "supercrunch99" ??? Posting crap about Detroit bands? I've ran into these nasty comments on Ruiners video's as well...wtf?

  • Nothing 4 more guitars couldn't make suck even worse. Someone told me I should see these guy's. I'm hoping she literally meant SEE them- as hearing them would have ruined our friendship. God Detroit cranks out some shit from time to time, this stuff is stinking up my keyboard. I love it here in Detroit, but this is not why.

  • This could suck worse, but not much. I never understood the reason or intrinsic value of these types of NOISE MAKING attempts to be Punk or whatever....really bad.

  • Fireking (bald dude is drummer Smitt E Smitty) came to see Circus Boy at Northern Lights after their show at Paycheck's. Title this "When Great Rock Collides".

We had an incredible time. Thank you for being Circus Boy. More please.

  • more guitar

  • OMG Calvin looking on that's too damn funny
