That ice cream van in the middle of nowhere (as you must have seen) overlooks a reservoir and marsden moor which as views of over 20 miles. People come to that spot, for simply the scenery and also to watch hand gliders and other individuals out walking.
Yes, it is a send up of travel guides but for God's sake, you could have at least chosen a spot that is rubbish rather than somewhere where you can get some absolutely great views extending to Leeds/Manchester!!!
