Carolina Jasmine 'Margarita', a winner of the PHS Gold Medal Plant Awards. Botanically known as Gelsemium sempervirens, this Carolina Jasmine is a fine-textured evergreen vine with a twining growth habit. It produces fragrant yellow trumpet-shaped flowers from late March into April. Margarita grows almost anywhere, with characteristics such as drought-tolerance, deer-resistance, and soil adaptability. This native will scramble up or cascade over obstacles, creating a mass of living color. Plant in sun or part-shade. Grows to 12 high x 6 wide. Hardy in zones 5b to 9.
I just bought one today and am very excited about it. The smell isn't exactly like the white flower jasmine but they smell very pretty non the less. The flowers are so beautiful as we were walking up to buy it out of the nursery we got many people stopping to look and smell the flowers. Even though it is still pretty early in spring the are many flowers all over this plant! Can't wait to enjoy this jasmine for years to come in South East PA!
